NHM London-A Great Honour

Filed in Articles on Jun.17, 2013

Over the last several weeks I have visited the amazing Natural History Museum in London twice to present two talks. Its been an amazing honour to do so and I thank the staff there for inviting me. I spoke about my images, my background and why and how I see using my camera. My work is true and real and I work with a great passion and I hope this came out to everyone that attended.

My first talk was images from Madagascar and Sumatra and my second talk covered my work with Tigers and the amazing Falkland islands. I wanted to take people there with my work and descriptions of these magical places I hold dear to my heart.

I was invited back as part of their season of Salgado-related talks in the Darwin Centre’s Attenborough Studio. To see the Salgado events please click here.  Such an amazing privilege as a wildlife photographer to be asked to form part of this outstanding exhibition in such a truly amazing place.

This is a small slideshow I presented alongside my images.

While I was doing my talks over in another part of the Natural History Museum there is an exhibition called Extinction-Not the end of the World which you can see here, and proud to say there is a short film being used as part of this exhibition which included alot of my images and some video I took during my last visit to Sumatra. Over the moon to be in two places at once, under the same roof at once. Click here to see this video.

On both shows the team there filmed me and you can see one of those films below. I talk alot with my hands, its real, unscripted. In an age when wildlife is under great pressure I explain why I work alongside wildlife and don’t change that moment in order to get a certain photograph. I feel this is so important, so hope my message comes over and you enjoy this film.

Thank you to everyone at the Natural History Museum for inviting me and it was lovely to meet you once more. Both exhibition are on for some time so if you visit this amazing place during the summer months check out both as they are brilliant and so inspiring. If you would like to book me for a talk then I have a page on my website that lets you do so, making it very easy to book me and outlining what I offer, prices etc many thanks.
