Humans have been inspired by nature since the beginning of time. Being at one with nature, immersing yourself within it to find peace and relaxation. It is for times like this that Carl Zeiss has spent over a century developing leading-edge optics, giving nature lovers the opportunity to experience nature more closely than ever before.

Carl Zeiss was born in Weimar on 11 September 1816. He built microscopes in Jena from 1846 onwards and together with Ernst Abbe, he succeeded in placing the construction of microscopes on a scientific foundation. This was the basis of today’s global player ZEISS. The company was founded in 1846 as the pioneer of science in optics, and continue to challenge the limits of man’s imagination.

With their passion for excellence, they create value for their customers and inspire the world to see in new ways. This year ZEISS Celebrates 200th Birthday of Its Founding Father and you can see a series of events to mark this amazing milestone by clicking here.

My first pair of binoculars I had were some secondhand ones my mum brought me when I was 12. The size and weight of them I can still remember along with the big black box lined with bright blue felt you put them in.  I really loved and looked after them I can remember. I was a proud member of the RSPB’s Young Ornithologists Club or YOC for short also and my 8×40 binoculars went everywhere with me.

Being able to see wildlife has always been something I’ve loved since I can remember and I’m really looking forward to using my VICTORY SF 10x 42 binoculars in the field within my wildlife photography. The first place I will be going with them is to the UP Bird Festival 2016 who were one of the main sponsors of this years Rutland Birdfair back in August.

The fair will take place in the grounds of the Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary. There will be talks by prominent ornithologist from around the globe. Workshops by professional photographers, art shows by renowned artists and a bird ringing station. Early mornings and evenings will be for bird watching in the nearby forest or doing a boat safari on the Chambal River followed by talks / workshops during the day.

Then I return to India in early February for my Snow Leopard expedition looking for these amazing big cats in the Indian Himalayas. So the binoculars and lenses will have many amazing encounters with nature I hope alongside my other projects I have going on and my workshops.
